From Poland comes a new episode in the history of portable cabins created from containers. In this case, by the multidisciplinary Wiercinski-Studio, which has worked to design one of them using two steel containers. The great advantage of this structure is that it is formed to serve as a remote living environment and an integrated workspace, proposed as a way to respond to the new post-pandemic reality. The prototype for the images is located inside the community garden next to Szelagowski Park in Poznan, Poland. The containers were completely prepared in the production hall, while their transport and assembly on the plot took place in one day, with only the last internal finishing works remaining on site. One of the goals is that it can be relocated anywhere, even over water. The result is a year-round living space made up of two adapted shipping containers, 12 x 2.5 meters and 2.9 meters high. The cabin was partially placed on the roof of previously standing containers, which serve as storage space for a garden.Due to the slope of the terrain and the views, the solid was displaced half its length, creating a large terrace on one side facing the nearby river, and on the other side, it moved closer to the plot, decreasing the height necessary to access inside.Inside the prefab we find a fully functional living room, kitchen, work area, bedroom and bathroom. In total, it was possible to obtain a total of 54 m2 of usable space and 24 m2 of space on the terrace. The walls are insulated with spray foam and finished with birch plywood, giving the interior a unique atmosphere.By using suitable materials, it was possible to obtain 2.6 meters of internal height to the light and hide the lintel created by connecting the container frames. The characteristic façade made of thick trapezoidal sheet metal was intentionally left intact, to show the sincerity of the raw construction. The walls are painted a subdued green color that allows the cabin to blend in seamlessly with the natural surroundings. In the living room with a view of the river, large windows have been installed in the places where the metal doors are located. In the side elevations, the windows have been placed in the middle of the wall height to leave as many interior layout options as possible. The cabin is complemented by exterior steel stairs and a feature arched deck balustrade. All of the furniture, including the bench, table and round-backed chair, are also part of the Wiercinski-Studio design. All individual elements, as well as the cabin itself, are designed to be adaptable and mobile. In this way, the house ceases to be a property tied to a specific place, changing its location and accompanying the owners at each stage of their lives. The General Council of the company and cause its stock market value to be above its nominal value, thus limiting its volatility, allowing new lines of financing to be opened and making it more attractive for investors to attend to future capital increases.
