for the container-type modular houses so that the families of those affected can see first-hand the characteristics of the 85 homes of this model, acquired by the Ministry at the request of the City Council of this municipality, to alleviate the housing emergency generated by the volcanic eruption of Cumbre Vieja, in La Palma. The counselor, accompanied on this visit by the mayor of the municipality, Noelia García, and the director of the Canarian Housing Institute, Maribel Santana, stressed that this prototype will allow those affected to know the details, composition and final appearance of the housing model acquired , of which a first batch of five houses will soon begin to be installed on a plot of land belonging to the municipality.“The fundamental objective of today's presentation is that from now on, organized visits will be planned with the affected families so that they can see the houses that are going to be awarded to them, which are houses with between 2 and 3 bedrooms, with two bathrooms and air conditioning; They are quite good quality homes for the demands of this moment and therefore to face this housing emergency, which is what we are all working on", assured Franquis, "we have acquired this type of modular housing in permanent coordination with the City Council of Los Llanos since they were the ones who told us that this is the type of housing they wanted for their municipality and, as you can see, we are complying with what they had asked of us”.This pilot apartment has been installed at the proposal of the Ministry so that those affected can familiarize themselves in advance with this model of housing made up of two containers that are joined laterally forming a module of 60 square meters with three bedrooms, two furnished bathrooms and a kitchen. equipped lounge. This prototype house has been partially furnished so that those affected can have the most realistic version possible of what will be the 85 units of this batch of houses acquired from a Galician company specialized in the sector.Starting next week, the Ministry plans to organize visits to this pilot house for the affected groups and platforms and, subsequently, for the successful bidder families who wish to learn about this housing modality for the first time. The complete batch of 85 modular houses acquired by the Canarian Housing Institute (ICAVI), at the request of the Los Llanos de Aridane City Council, will be installed on a plot close to the one already used for the installation of the first five wooden houses , in this same municipality, homes that will be delivered shortly to their successful bidders once the necessary water, electricity and sanitation connection works are completed in the coming weeks.“We have bought 85 homes of this type, called a container, as it is commonly called, and we are already planning the urbanization works of the plot on which these homes are going to be located, work that the technicians believe can last around three or four months. This is a job that is not done overnight. We have to build a highway, make streets, sidewalks, pipes for water, electricity, and sanitation services, and that logically requires deadlines”, recalled Sebastián Franquis, “these are some of the measures to face this housing emergency, especially in the municipality of Los Llanos, which is the municipality most affected by the volcano eruption, the majority, almost 80 percent of the families that need to be given a housing alternative come from this municipality and that is why we are now focused to install these houses. These houses have been acquired from a specialized company, based in Galicia, which promised to comply with the order in the shortest possible time.In fact, barely a month after signing the contract with this company, the first units are already in La Palma, to which about five more will be added next week that are already shipped to the Isla Bonita. The investment made by the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Housing to acquire these 85 modular homes is 5.3 million euros. The Minister of Public Works, Transport and Housing also reported that his department is committed to supporting the island's construction sector, and for this reason eight companies on the island have been asked for a budget to carry out the urbanization works that are being carried out to undertake in the plots of the municipalities of Los Llanos de Aridane and El Paso in which the 121 modular homes acquired by the Government to face the housing emergency caused by the volcano will be installed.“We are going to try to ensure that this type of work, especially urbanization, is carried out fundamentally by companies from La Palma, with which the investment that we are carrying out from the Ministry on this island also favors an economic activity that stays precisely here” , pointed out Councilor Franquis, "we are all cooperating, not only with the council and the municipalities, but also with the construction sector of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, to see the possibility of offering the largest possible number of works to companies that have their economic activity in La Palma to, logically, promote, promote and collaborate so that the reconstruction of the island also favors the growth of economic activity and employment on the island”.The
